Hi Jurgen,

Thanks for the comment, I must admit I hadn't looked. Testing it this evening I think you're right. The G7 isn't using the Metz assist-lamp, regardless of how the camera is set in the configuration menu.

Good luck with your blog, I'm quite jealous you have a G9 to play with!

cheers
 John

Hello,

I've just bought the same combination, but with a G9. I also have the adapter-tube, and I'm waiting for a Canon wide-angle convertor. Believe it or not, I'm planning to put a blog online as well.

Nice comment, I fully agree.
Don't get the point either about the 15 flashes.

One question though... did in your case the AF-assistlamp on the Metz actually work or not? In my case the G9 keeps using the G9 assist-lamp and not the Metz lamp. No big deal, because it works just fine, but this it's a pitty that if a feature exists, it's still not used by the camera.

Thank you in advance.

Stuart - Couldn't agree more about bicycles, they are the only way to travel! You can look after one for a whole year for the price of a tank petrol. Brilliant! Sadly though, I just can't seem to live without a car, even though it spends most of its time sat on the drive.

Leo - Thanks for the comments, Your M3 experience is horribly familiar! I fixed the problem by replacing the whole thing, its an easy job, you just need spanners and a screwdriver. I tried desperately to think of a hack, only thing I thought might work is to put some tight tubing, maybe that heat shirk stuff, on the rubber bit to replace the thickness of lost material.
